Student Story:
I have been taking yoga classes for approximately 8 ½ years. Of those 8 ½ years approximately 5 ½ years have been under Marcie’s instruction. Marcie puts the ‘you’ in yoga. By that I mean Marcie helps
students find the version of a yoga pose that works for them. She always says, ‘there is no perfect pose; perfect is whatever works for you’. As a result, Marcie’s yoga classes are a mix of students of all skill levels.
I have found consistent yoga practice has incredible health benefits. In my mid-fifties I began having sciatic nerve issues. Once I began taking yoga classes I found many of the yoga poses were basically the same physical therapy exercises I had been given to help alleviate and control the sciatica issues I was experiencing.
I also find yoga has significantly reduced the rate at which my aging body is losing both flexibility and balance. I find yoga helps me mentally focus and it also has a calming effect on my body and mind. In general, I feel consistent yoga practice has impacted both my mental and physical health in a significant positive manner and I intend to continue taking yoga classes for as long as I’m able.
